Wealden Quilt Show 2007 |
|---|
|
What an amazing show, each year the quilts get bigger and better. I am very pleased to report that this year's show was another great success, from the cushions and patchwork dog, to the queen and king size bed quilts; they were all much admired for the skill, patience, colour co-ordination and attention to detail from the makers. Every skill level was included, from beginners to the experienced. There was something for everybody to love, admire and drool over !!!. I would like to thank everybody who helped to make the show a success, from the ladies in the kitchen who provided the mouth watering lunches, the cakes donated, to the doorman (and ladies), the quilt angels who impressed visitors with their knowledge regarding the techniques used, for all the raffle prizes that were donated, to the team that helped me put up and take down the quilts. The amount raised was £1,100 which will be given to Sussex Air Ambulance. The Visitor's Choice at the 2007 show was a very close run contest. The Winner was Starry, Starry Night by Dorothy Thompson and the runner up Chocolate Box by Sheila Chohan.
The Challenge at the 2007 show was 'Choose a Season' there were 20 entries. The entries were judged by four neutral gentlemen. The winner was A Wintery Scene By Margaret Seale and the runners up were Autumn Leaves by Sheila Benson and Autumn Mists by Howard Young.
Here are pictures of the talented winners with their quilts and cups.
RAFFLE Jill Playle of Sussex Air ambulance visited the show on Saturday afternoon and explained more about the service that is to be provided. She then drew the raffle. The raffle table was laden with prizes - over 40 in total.
